In February 2024, YouthTruth presented at the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) National Conference on Education in San Diego. YouthTruth’s Director of Partnerships, Jimmy Simpson, partnered with El Monte Union High School District Superintendent, Dr. Edward Zuniga, for the session Transforming Math Education: Digging Deeper into Students’ Math Experiences and Identities. Jimmy shared the findings and implications of YouthTruth’s national study of over 200,000 student perceptions of their own math identity, while Dr. Zuniga presented how El Monte UHSD was aiming to transform how students in his district learn math and how they perceive themselves as math learners.
